Citizenship of the EU

Any national of a Member State of the European Union is automatically a European citizen. Being a European citizen confers rights enshrined in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) and in the Charter, such as the freedom to travel, live, work, provide services or study in another EU country, to participate in European political life, and to enjoy protection against discrimination on grounds of nationality.
