Competition Law

Competition Law is fundamental to the proper functioning of markets and, from the point of view of European Union Law, it is a vital part of completing the internal market.

Achieving these objectives means that the rules adopted at European Union level and in Portugal concerning restrictive agreements or concerted practices, abuse of a dominant position, merger control, and public aid are actually observed.

Cruz Vilaça Advogados underlines the importance of competition law and policy so that European citizens can benefit from better products and services, at lower prices. Our lawyers have significant knowledge and experience in the various areas of competition law, providing legal advice and ensuring the representation of its clients in administrative proceedings and in legal proceedings before the European Commission, the Portuguese Competition Authority, the Court of Justice of the European Union, and the Portuguese courts.

"At its simplest - and it is sensitive in considering competition law and policy not to lose sight of the simple propositions - the benefits of competition are lower prices, better products, wider choice and higher efficiency than would be obtained under conditions of monopoly."
